#10881 closed enhancement (fixed)

Protect "firstboot" to avoid unintentional /overlay destruction

Reported by: anonymous Owned by: developers
Priority: lowest Milestone: Features Paradise
Component: base system Version: Trunk
Keywords: firstboot Cc:

I runned "firstboot --help" and it destroyed my configs (as it is what firstboot does)

Please, use some arguments in order to protect it from be runned unintentional, like with "--help" argument.

My suggestion:

"firstboot --clear-overlay": do what it does today. Otherwise, show a help msg/line.

  • Milestone changed from Backfire 10.03.2 to Features Paradise
  • Priority changed from normal to lowest
  • Version changed from 10.03.1 to Trunk

Why would you want to run firstboot at all if there is nothing to reset?

I was duped by this as well. Luckily not on a production box.
Any chance a confirmation step could be added to the script?
Something like: "Are you sure you would like to reset all files? (y/n)"
