#10711 new defect

minidlna inotify scanning doesn't work

Reported by: anonymous Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: packages Version: Trunk
Keywords: Cc:

If you move a file into the media directory, it is not automatically detected. Executing this command fixes the problem: mknod /dev/inotify c 10 63

Either openwrt should create this device file or minidlna should be updated to use /sys. This feature is critical since on many devices minidlna cannot complete a full scan due to limited memory. Thus, media must be added incrementally.

According to these bug reports this bug is already fixed:

However I still have this problem: inotify.c:648: error: inotify_init() failed!
I'm using Backfire (10.03.1, r29592).

Can anyone confirm if this bug is actually fixed or not?

I get the same message:

inotify.c:648: error: inotify_init() failed!

on Backfire (10.03.1, r29592)

Looks like its not fixed.

As of 07/12/13 I can confirm that after creating the /dev/inotify device, minidlna 1.2.4 is working fine when you add or remove files from the media folders running under OpenWrt Attitude Adjustment 12.09 / LuCI 0.11.1 Release (0.11.1), kernel 3.3.8
