#10671 closed defect (no_response)

bugs in 10.03.1 final

Reported by: anonymous Owned by:
Priority: response-needed Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07

Description

Upgraded from 10.03.1-rc5 directly to 10.03.1 final, hardware is WNDR3700v2.

Here's what is broken:

  • All dynamic graphs in web interface.
    • JS Console say "XHR.poll() no such function."
    • Looking at /luci-static/resources/xhr.js that seems correct; no poll() function exists.
    • LuCI version is 0.10.0
  • All non-default VLANs were erase.
    • As such, all ports assigned "untagged: vlan x" where x != 1 stopped functioning.
    • Luckily, the laptop I use to do the upgrade and management is on a wireless segment that maps to VLAN 1 ;-).

Hope someone can help. I'm holding off recommending this release to others until at least the LuCI issue is fixed.

As for the non refreshing LuCI - clear your browser cache or do ctrl + reload a few times.

Regarding the deleted vlans, I have no idea what you mean here. Maybe the ar71xx uci defaults mangled your settings, in this case a restore of your backed up network config should work just fine.

UPDATE:

Found what causes the XHR.poll() bug.

The contents of the xhr.js file has changed, but the URL has not. At the same time, caching directives tell the browser that the file will not change, that it can cache it forever.

After an upgrade, half of the files that the browser loads from the configuration GUI is an old version.

Recommendation: keep a strict 1-1 mapping between URLs and content, when allowing the browser to do indefinite (or long) caching.

(As an idea, an easy fix is always including the MD5 of the file in requests for css/js/img resources, it completely eliminates this issue, but of course is not an overnight fix.)

  • Resolution set to no_response
  • Status changed from new to closed

The LuCi refresh issues where due to browser cache, no further comment on the vlan problem, closing due to lack of input.
