#10309 closed defect (worksforme)

Search with / in menuconfig causes segfault

Reported by: hnyman Owned by: developers
Priority: high Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: toolchain Version: Trunk
Keywords: menuconfig search Cc: hannu.nyman@…

Search for a package/option with / in menuconfig fails now (svn 28663) with a segmentation fault. Search string can be entered, but no results are showed, instead the menuconfig application crashes

make: *** [menuconfig] Segmentation fault

The search still works in Backfire, and did work in trunk 2-3 days ago. When checking the trunk changelog, I suspect that r28658 might be the cause of the regression. Reverting scripts/config to svn 28657 enables search to work again without crashes.

For some crashes I managed to get stack trace:

*** glibc detected *** scripts/config/mconf: free(): invalid pointer: 0x0000000000699a61 ***

It works here. Please try make -C scripts/config clean, then make menuconfig again.

You might be right that it was just some version mismatch inside buildroot tools:
That make clean command helped. Searching works again.
