#10298 closed defect (no_response)

dhcp not working

Reported by: evers.le@… Owned by: developers
Priority: response-needed Milestone: Backfire 10.03.1
Component: packages Version: Backfire 10.03
Keywords: dhcp busybox Cc:

Description

udhcpc is not able to acquire an ip address from a Arris Touchstone® TM722B cable modem. Other devices (linux, OSX desktop, factory firmware, old busy box versions (kamikaze 0.9) on dd-wrt) do not have this problem. I checked with wireshark and the noticeable difference is that the dhcp discovery messages from udhcpc contain 0 bytes past the end of the options block, all other tested dhcp versions do not have this.
So I suspect removing these 0 padding bytes will solve the issue.
udhcp/busybox on debian does not put 0 padding bytes in its discover message and works.

Can you check if this is because of any OpenWrt patch modifying udhcpc? If so, if you remove that patch, or circumvent its purpose, is it working better?
