#10279 closed defect (obsolete)

kmod-fs-hfsplus should set "CONFIG_EFI_PARTITION"

Reported by: adam2104 <openwrt@…> Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: base system Version: Trunk
Keywords: Cc:

Description

The HFS plus file system is primarily (but not exclusively) used by Apple's OS X. The partition table use by OS X is EFI based. The kmod-fs-hfsplus kernel module cannot read drives formatting in HFS plus with EFI partition tables unless one specifically enabled "EFI Partition" support in "kernel_menuconfig". Would it be possible to have kmod-fs-hfsplus enable "CONFIG_EFI_PARTITION" to eliminate the need to visit kernel_menuconfig?

Can you check how much it increases the kernel size?

comment:2 Changed 6 years ago by adam2104 <openwrt@…>

It increases the size by approximately 14.5KB:

1447776 2011-10-25 05:24 openwrt-x86-alix2-vmlinuz -- with EFI partition support
1433184 2011-10-25 11:21 openwrt-x86-alix2-vmlinuz -- without EFI partition support

You can close this ticket. Further investigation of the efi partition support suggests that it isn't possible to compile this as a kernel module.
