asterisk-1.8.x - word alignment is not required with mips

Reported by: anonymous Owned by: zandbelt
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: packages Version: Trunk
Keywords: asterisk, asterisk-1.8.x Cc:

Description

The word alignment patch
packages/net/asterisk-1.8.x/patches/300-word_alignment_arm.patch
trues to fix alignment issues on mips. As far as I know mips does not have any alignment issues and this patch actually breaks asterisk on a mips router (ASUS wl500g premium)

Some effects are intermittent, but observations over a couple of weeks have led me to conclude that with this patch

  • There are intermittent registration failure to one of my providers. Sip trace shows that asterisk is sending a sip message with a blank line between two headers. A blank like indicates end of a sip message. Essentially, asterisk is effectively sending two incomplete messages.
  • One of my clients fails to register consistently.

The issues are not present when this patch is removed.

Is there any reason to believe that this is required on mips?

the patch was added as a result of #8132; I'm not yet sure how to proceed

well, #8132 talks about the ARM platform but the patch also applies to the MIPS platform; that has been changed now: r28487 only applies this patch for ARM, no longer for MIPS
