#10085 closed enhancement (not_a_bug)

Add support for Netgear CG3101D

Reported by: anonymous Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: base system Version: Trunk
Keywords: Cc:

Description

VirginMedia (a UK ISP) rebrands this DOCSIS router as Superhub and it's used by most of its users, it'd be nice to run OpenWRT on it.

Feel free to submit a patch to get OpenWrt running on it!

it seems that this thing runs eCos and only has 8 MB ram. i don't think anybody is going to be interested in adding support for that.

I have some experimental patches to support bcm33xx devices here: http://alphacore.org/~florian/openwrt/bcm33xx/

should be a good start for getting your router supported.

Linux does not have support for DOCSIS Cable MAC, someone with a strong will and necessary documentation to support Cable Modems/routers should do it.

No, it has 8MB of flash and 64MB of RAM. And supposedly a 1000DMIPS CPU, which would overall put it on par with routers like the WNDR3700 and DIR815.

Personally I don't care about the DOCSIS cable functions, for all I care they could be ripped out. I doubt that will ever be supported by any alternative software as it requires access to DOCSIS authentication certificates.

With the DOCSIS modem ignored, it's still a 4-port gigabit router with dual-band wireless and a reasonable core platform.

I now have two of these routers, and would very much like openwrt on them. If it would help, I could send you one of them to create support.

No other news then wontfix?

what do you expect to gain by reopening this ticket? this trac instance is meant for tracking bugs and their progress, not for random feature requests or random platform support requests.
we already have way too many open tickets, and the tickets that are actually useful are being drowned out by those that aren't. please don't make it worse, kthxbye.

I have Virgin Media Super Hub VMDG480 with same H/W and want to test this patches, but "404 Not Found".
Can you re-upload this patches.
Thank you.
