#7495 libdirectfb Makefile doesn't enable debug packages Barrier Breaker 14.07 defect 2010-06-21

Current to r21827 libdirectfb's Makefile lacks --enable-debug which means no debugging output is produced even with an appropriately configured /etc/directfbrc.

Since --enable-debug-support is in there, I assume debugging capabilities are desired. As such --enable-debug should be in there to make debugging capabilities available.

#7126 buildsystem doesn't pick up changes in target/linux/*/files/ toolchain Barrier Breaker 14.07 defect 2010-04-08

The buildsystem should recopy or force a clean if files in target/linux/*/files/* are newer than the extraction timestamp for the sources in the build_dir.

Currently this doesn't happen, which might result in e.g. changes not being picked up after an update of the checkout and doing a rebuild.

This can be worked around by manually doing a

make target/linux/clean

before a rebuild.

This led to #7124.

#7854 cannot use libnl-tiny library calls in C++ packages Barrier Breaker 14.07 defect 2010-09-01

Cannot use libnl-tiny library calls in C++. The C++ is lot more strict than the C compiler and requires explicit casts.

I was unable to include 3 header files in my C++ code without adding explicit casts. The 3 files are attr.h, handlers.h, msg.h.

I have include a patch file

The static tzsetwall() declaration clashes with the non-static declaration in /usr/include/time.h (slightly abridged):

#if !defined(_ANSI_SOURCE) && (!defined(_POSIX_C_SOURCE) || defined(_DARWIN_C_SOURCE))
void tzsetwall(void);
#endif /* neither ANSI nor POSIX */

There are multiple ways to solve or work around this issue. The attached patch makes tzsetwall() non-static in the zoneinfo package. An alternative would be to set appropriate CPPFLAGS so that tzsetwall is not exposed in the system header.

#9369 Add configure_path to cmake toolchain Barrier Breaker 14.07 enhancement 2011-05-06

#9616 Parsing ieee80211d=0 option will not remove ieee80211d=1 from /var/run/hostapd-phy0.conf packages Barrier Breaker 14.07 defect 2011-06-26

Setting ieee80211d=0 under wifi-iface will have /lib/wifi/mac80211.sh generate an /var/run/hostapd-phy0.conf containing both ieee80211d=1 and ieee80211d=0

/etc/uci/wireless Documentation states that ieee80211d under wifi-iface is meant to enable IEEE 802.11d country IE support yet ieee80211d=1 is set if wifi-device 'country' option is not null

Under the current mac80211.sh implementation it appears an undocumented wifi-device option (option 'country_ie' '0') can be used to disable such behavior.

It might prove more consistent to disable said behavior also when option 'ieee80211d' '0 is specified under wifi-iface

#11352 wpa_supplicant.sh - parse encryption modes and ciphers packages Barrier Breaker 14.07 defect 2012-04-25

I tried to set up an EAP TLS connection to a WPA (not WPA2) access point, and discovered that the wpa_supplicant.conf config file that was generated still specified WPA2 proto and CCMP cipher.

It appears that /lib/wifi/wpa_supplicant.sh does not parse the encryption type correctly.

The following patch allows the script to parse all the WPA modes listed on http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/uci/wireless#wpa.modes

This same problem is present in 10.03 (all versions)

#11037 Please compile busybox with support for watch packages Barrier Breaker 14.07 enhancement 2012-02-24

The watch command is very useful for monitoring a router, e.g.

watch ip route show

Please compile busybox with support for watch.

I'm currently working around with a script that does

while true; do clear; "$@"; sleep 1; done

but it would of course be much more convenient to have watch built in.

#7094 System does not wait until USB subsystem settles before continuing with boot process packages Barrier Breaker 14.07 defect 2010-04-06

I am using the new USB block hotplug scripts in order to mount a USB disk before mt-daapd runs. Mt-daapd is configured so that its media library is on the USB disk. I am finding that the USB subsystem does not finish initializing before the mt-daapd init script runs (even though the usb script runs before the mt-daapd script). The relevant scripts are run with the following priorities:

S39usb S50mt-daapd

It takes several seconds before the kernel identifies sda2:

Jan 1 00:00:21 golem user.notice kernel: scsi 0:0:0:0: Direct-Access Seagat Jan 1 00:00:21 golem user.notice kernel: sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] 976773168 512-byte l Jan 1 00:00:21 golem user.notice kernel: sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Write Protect is off Jan 1 00:00:21 golem user.debug kernel: sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Mode Sense: 1c 00 00 Jan 1 00:00:21 golem user.err kernel: sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Assuming drive cache: w Jan 1 00:00:21 golem user.debug kernel: usb-storage: device scan complete

When I read documentation for booting from a USB disk, I often find that users add a sleep command after running hotplug2 and mounting the usbfs. Should we add this to one of the init scripts? Adding a "sleep 5" to the end of the start function in S39usb works for me.

#22513 nginx for sunxi cubieboard not working packages defect 2016-06-08

I installed openwrt 15.05.01 on a cubieboard 1 (sunxi A10), and found out nginx could not work, the log messages were like this:

[06/Jun/2016:13:51:39 +0800] "\xB0\x9C\x84\x00\xD4e\xD7\xB6TP/1.1" 400 172 "-" "-" it seems like wrong characters (uhttpd worked well with luci web) and the problem is same on 14.04.

BYW, nginx works well on linaro armhf ubuntu which i installed on the nand.

#22676 Banana pro (sunxi) ethernet (stmmac) not functional kernel defect 2016-06-25

When using a CC image on a Banana Pro the system is booting up fine, but the ethernet network is unusable. When pinging the system I have more than 50% packet loss, an actual connection (luci or ssh) cannot be established. The same board works fine with Ambian (which uses gmac instead of stmmac) so I'm pretty sure its not a hardware defect or wiring problem (of course I also replaced cables, switches to eliminate this as source).

I don't think this is related to the well known "gigabit problem" on sunxi, because the problem also exists when forcing the switch port to 10 or 100. I still have to find out if the problem still exists in trunk, but #22675 prevents me from testing right now.

If it still exists in trunk my first attempts would be to play around with buffers, but since stmmac is now in-kernel this wont be so easy... any suggestions?

#20302 sunxi: Lamobo-R1 broken on current trunk packages defect 2015-08-07

Just tested with today's trunk. The resulting sd card image is unbootable. Serial log says:

U-Boot SPL 2015.07 (Aug 07 2015 - 15:57:43)
DRAM: 1024 MiB
CPU: 912000000Hz, AXI/AHB/APB: 3/2/2

And it hangs at this point. My guess is guess this must be related to commit 21067c3680641ba52f00d11206f1eff7157ccd53 that bumped u-boot version (Will now try out with that one reverted)

#22675 kmod-eeprom-sunxi missing in sunxi trunk snapshots packages defect 2016-06-25

When trying to use imagebuilder to build a sunxi image I receive the following error message:

 * opkg_install_cmd: Cannot install package kmod-eeprom-sunxi.
Makefile:146: recipe for target 'package_install' failed
make[2]: *** [package_install] Error 255

in packages/ there is no kmod-eeprom-sunxi* but it is a target (sunxi) dependency.

Not sure if the target definition is wrong or the package should be there but is missing. Bit if it should be there its not only missing in the imagebuilder snapshot but also in the inidividual package directory https://downloads.openwrt.org/snapshots/trunk/sunxi/generic/packages/kernel/
