#6924 closed defect (fixed)

Ubiquity nanostation m5 thinks ethernet links are always up

Reported by: d+openwrt@… Owned by: juhosg
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: kernel Version: Kamikaze trunk
Keywords: Atheros AG71xx Cc: kaloz@…, juhosg@…

Description

Ubiquity nanostation m5 thinks ethernet links are always in state UP, even if there is no cable attached.
ip link <snip,snip>

2: eth0: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast state UP qlen 1000

link/ether 00:15:6d:ed:be:d9 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff

3: eth1: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast state UP qlen 1000

link/ether 00:15:6d:ed:be:da brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff

Interestingly, the lan LEDs do reflect the true state of the link.

I have been building from trunk openwrt for the Ubiquity nanostation M5. So far almost everything I've tried has worked, and my hat is off to you.

However in implementing a babel based routing system I noticed that link detection didn't work and that makes failover problematic.

Tested as of commit: 1096da2e3ca38ba6ee61a5bfa66bfe2cd4a2993a
2.6.32.9 kernel

Also, eth1 is recognised as a gigE interface (which it may well be), but with POE enabled can't possibly be a gigE. It does negotiate the right speed when brought up, so this is a minor issue.

From dmesg:
eth1: link up (1000Mbps/Full duplex)

I can supply access to one of these routers if anyone is up to taking a look at it.

The DIR-615-C1 is doing the right thing, so this (hopefully) narrows down the nanostation problem a LOT... (thx, pat)
